The Big Intimidator
Although it has a reputation of being the most difficult stroke to learn, we begin teaching Butterfly to our kids as early as age 5 at Triangle Swim School.
Skill Progression
We always start with teaching the dolphin kick first, then the Butterfly arms, then the whole stroke with arms and legs, and finally the breathing. Because breathing during the Butterfly stroke is an advanced skill, we have only shown the skill Progression for “Modified Butterfly.”
