Certified Pool and Spa Operator (CPO) Course

The Certified Pool & Spa Operator® (CPO®) certification program is the world’s leading education and certification program for keeping pools safer and keeping them open. Over 400,000 students have been trained since 1972.

CPO certification provides individuals with the knowledge, techniques, and skills required for proper pool operations. This course is eligible for IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

You will learn how to:
 Reduce risks in and around the water
 Prevent drowning, recreational water illness, suction entrapment, evisceration, diving accidents, electrocutions, chemical hazards, and slips and falls
 Address regulatory guidelines
 Maintain disinfection and water balance
 Manage water problems
 Perform troubleshooting, chemical testing, and record keeping
 Manage chemical feed
 Utilize automation and technology

*Pool Operator Primer course must be completed online and a copy of the certificate must be submitted to the teacher prior to the first day*
**Must be a USSSA Active Member to Register**
***Note we will need a total of at least 10 registered to run the course***

Infant Toddler Education Workshop – Virtual – Dec. 1st (members only)

December 1st, 2022 – 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Pacific

The class covers:

  • USSSA guidelines on swimming instruction for children under the age of 36 months;
  • development of a teaching philosophy;
  • professionalism and continuing education;
  • health and safety concerns;
  • basic child development and implications towards swimming;
  • progressions and skill development;
  • video of swim programs and numerous skill progressions;
  • A Certificate of Completion will be awarded at the end of the course.

Instructor:  Debbie Sayers, DolFUN Swim Academy

Date:  December 1, 2022
Time – 9:00 am – 3:00 pm PST
Duration – 6 hours (time for short breaks will be provided)
Workshop fee:  $125.00

***To get your certificate you need to complete the online pre-req course; we expect all participants to be on camera during the virtual course but if unable to be on camera during any portion they need to reach out to the USSSA office prior for approval; attention should be focused on course presenter and materials – not on other tasks; attendees should be engaged and participate in all breakout sessions; attendees should be prepared for roll call at the start and a various points throughout the workshop to confirm engagement. If it’s determined that attendees were not engaged for 1 and a half hours or more, USSSA reserves the right to not issue a certificate. (that’s about 25% of the time)

Join Laurie Lawrence from World Wide Swim School and partner Trauma-Informed expert Janine Ramsey as they present this webinar. Janine will give you an introduction and overview of the area of trauma-informed practice in aquatics and of the pathway to becoming a trauma-informed aquatics professional or swim school.
Speaker: Laurie Lawrence
Laurie’s learn to swim philosophies are the product of more than 50 years of successful swim techniques and coaching achievements. This includes 10 gold, 11 silver and 12 bronze medals from swimmers he assisted at Olympic level. As a result, the Australian Olympic Committee make Laurie an integral part of the Australian team at all Olympic Games between 1996 and 2012. The culmination of decades of experience in the swimming industry has lead Laurie to create World Wide Swim School.

BSc, Dip Counselling, Cert Trauma Professional. Janine is an aquatics specialist with over 40 years professional experience in the aquatics industry, including as a former elite athlete, swim school owner and swim teacher. An international presenter and consultant to the aquatics industry with a special focus on trauma-informed practice in aquatics. Janine collaborates with the Blue Knot Foundation and is a telephone crisis supporter with Lifeline.
